prelude:
I'm 4 years into my events (Domain Summit), and I am finally getting ready to start sending weekly newsletters to our former and future attendees.
Why not earlier > because this was an annual event > now I am planing to have 2 or 3 annual events accross the globe and it is the time to start sending out newsletters
--
Questions:
I haven't chosen the newsletter software yet.
Most probably I will be checking today what is out there at AppSumo, and maybe some opensource solution that I could self-host. As the SMTP server I plan to use PostmarkApp, as it provides quality analytics that are so necessary for a project like this.
those who haven't done it before, what you will need is:
// my other company owns a number of large and established domain name forums and we send out 38,000+ weekly newsletters (on Tuesdays), and for the SMTP needs maintain our own server (the main reason after the costs is to be able to send out newsletters with higher bounce rates than any SMTP service provider would allow).
.. would love to hear your thoughts on this

Questions:
- Do you send out newsletters?
- Which platform do you use to do this?

those who haven't done it before, what you will need is:
- Newsletter backend software (ideally your CRM would have this) that allows storing your subscribers + has a functionality for users to auto-unsubscribe from your newsletter
- SMTP service provider (for example, AWS, Postmarkapp, Mailgun or other).
